Margaret “Peg” Halvorson
March 4, 1938 – Oct. 2, 2026
Margaret “Peg” Halvorson, 88, of Lakeside, died peacefully Oct. 2, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family.
Peg was born March 4, 1938, on the family farm north of Lakeside. She graduated from Lakeside High School in 1956 and married Harold Halvorson the following June.
For 31 years she taught second grade, and generations of Lakeside children learned to read at her kitchen-table pace — patient, cheerful and never in a hurry. She sang alto in the church choir and never missed a grandchild’s game.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Tom) Berg and David (Lisa) Halvorson; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Lakeside.
